Welcome to The Wackadoos
Where wacky science meets real-world adventure.
Founded by educator–adventurer Lloyd Godson, Commonwealth Bank Teaching Fellow and co-founder of The Nature School.
Lloyd is no stranger to wacky science adventures. The Australian Geographic Society once described his BioSUB mission—where he lived underwater using a plant-based life support system built by high school students—as “one part science, one part adventure and one part wacky.” Today, Lloyd is applying that same recipe to The Wackadoos, fueled by a passion for working with young people on projects that make people smile and discover the wonder of innovation.
Science
Wacky experiments and hands-on projects that make STEM feel playful, practical and actually fun. Young people learn by doing, trying, testing and asking a lot of "what if?" questions.
Adventure
Big, real‑world challenges that feel like an adventure, not a worksheet. Young people step into a crew, make decisions together and learn courage, curiosity and leadership by doing, not just talking about it.
Wacky
Blending art, storytelling and design with engineering. From wild concepts to working prototypes, young people learn to imagine big, then build the weird and wonderful together.
Electrifying Futures: our first big team project.
We’re kicking things off by using electric vehicle racing as the backdrop for something bigger: a year-long team adventure in youth leadership. Young people design, build, test and improve an EV together, learning how to plan, fail safely and try again.
In a small, tight‑knit crew, everyone has a role. You’ll make decisions together, solve real problems and discover what it feels like to build something your community can be proud of. The race days at the end are the celebration – the real win is the skills, confidence and friendships you build along the way.
